The hypnotic eye of this sculpture draws one in, and as one simultaneously keeps the title, which is recognisable and knowable, in mind, (We have all seen a bird's eye, haven't we?), one realises that the eye is more like some kind of a camera aperture. The square inside the outer oval indicates a mechanism for focussing, but it's definitely not an organic bird's eye!

This leads one's gaze downwards to the perplexing body. If it is a bird, then it is a chick, with its little stumps for wings spread apart and seeking help, but whose whole head has become an eye, like an open mouth .

Perhaps, however, the title hints at a 'bird's eye view', and if the body is viewed as a simple cruciform upholding this particular 'bird's eye view' - as if to offer 'a clear overview' or 'far sighted vision', then a whole new meaning begins to emerge.
